FucknFilthy Meets : ILK

24 Oct

For the latest edition of our interview series I sat down with Ludo , the man behind ILK. A website that follows his travels ,
design work & life in France through the medium of his photography.
If I was asked to pick the best lifestyle blog on the internet then ILK would be it , always an inspiration and his photos are fantastic.
Check out his photos & the interview below
& don’t forget to check out ILK by clicking here.

Q1. Who are you & what do you do?
Hello i’m Ludovilk, aka iLK. I’m an art director and graphic designer, have been freelancing for five years and I’ve worked a few years in an agency.

Q2. What is ILK & where are you based?
iLK is my nickname and I live in the 93, in the Paris suburbs. I’m working in a huge office surrounded by a lot of cool guys like the agency Colorz (http://www.colorz.fr) & the famous Fubiz (http://www.fubiz.net)

Q3. Have you been taking pictures for long?
I’ve been taking pictures since I was 17. At the beginning, when i was a kid and film wasn’t popular yet , i developed my black and white pictures myself. But now, since I started 7 years ago i do a lot of film and a little bit of analog photography.

Q4. What equipment do you use? Do you have a favourite camera / lense ?
Most of the time a Canon 5D mark II, sometimes my iphone4 or my Fujifilm X100 . And of course, my old Minolta X700, which I’ve used since I was 17! He’s as faithful as a dog. My favorite lense is the 50mm, it’s the one that looks the most like the human eye! I sometimes appreciate working with a fisheye too, It depends on the mood.

Q5. What does the future hold for ILK ?
Hmmm…… It’s difficult to know…. Just wait and see !

Q6. Favourite city in the world?
My favorite city in the world is New-York-City for the mood, very urban and cultural. But I also love Paris, London, Amsterdam, Barcelona … And sometimes very small places, close to nature, i’m not always a city slicker, I love silence, grass & the countryside.

Q7.Who inspires you to take pictures?
Hmmm, very difficult question, because I take pictures just for fun. I prefer to use my eyes rather then than techniques. That’s why I’m taking lifestyle pictures, stolen moments. I leave clean photography using lots of materials, flash, studios etc. for real photographers ! But i love the work of David Lachappelle (because of his use of colors) , Terry Richardson (for his lifestyle based pictures) . Martha Cooper because she’s a graffiti specialist, she’s been here since the beginning . And I’m loving the work of my two friends NBP and Benoit Guenot, their work really captures a moment.

Q8.Out of the 100s of pictures on your site , do you have a favourite , if you could show one picture to represent your style of photography which one would it be?
Very difficult question, because i have almost 1 400 pictures on ilkflottante. Maybe, without reflection, my favorite picture of the moment maybe this one, because it was a very cool graffiti session with my dude Seb FMK, under the falling snow in very cold weather. It’s a picture for a big project graffiti book that I’m working on since last year.

Q9. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like doing graffiti, eating good things of course, chilling with my amazing girlfriend and/or my brother Tyrsa, playing basketball, suffering with some new tattoos, watching good tv, listening to good music (metal, hip-hop …)  Or simply taking my car and going on a roadtrip somewhere according to how I’m feeling.

Q10. Any last words / shoutouts?
I’m born in blood, but i’m still here !
